Since the end of the 1400s, Sardenaira (whose name derives from the sardines added to the sauce) has been present on the tables of the Western Ligurian Riviera: it is a classic focaccia topped with a tomato-based sauce, olives (strictly Taggiasca), anchovies, capers and fragrant oregano. Our Sardenaira sauce is inspired by this traditional recipe.
The simplicity of the sauce, reproduced with the typical Ligurian flavours, makes it suitable for dressing pizza, pasta, appetizers and bruschetta.

For our sauces we exclusively use Italian Tomato Pulp , excellent extra virgin olive oil and Genoese DOP Basil expertly combined with the ingredients of the recipe.
Genoese Basil DOP can be recognized by sight, taste and smell. The species to which it belongs is that of the Ocimum Basilicum L.; it is grown on the Ligurian coast in greenhouses or in open fields. Basil grown outside Liguria cannot be DOP.
To be used for the preparation of bruschetta and appetizers. Ideal for long pasta, short pasta and filled pasta.
It is recommended to heat over low heat or in the microwave before use.
